Welcome to the Academic Skills course!
Over the next 7 weeks, we will introduce you to the learning strategies that can make a real difference to whether you fulfil your academic potential in higher education. As we will explain when we introduce the course in class this Wednesday (8 June at 09.30), degree-level study poses different challenges to what you will experienced in high school.
During this first week of the course, we have a lot to cover:
1. We'll set the scene with our Course Introduction (including the Course Descriptor and assessments)
2. Cover two themes from the course: Critical Thinking and Academic Resources
3. Spend time with your Student Tutor and tutorial group
4. Be assigned your Project Team and set the ground rules for how you will proceed with your team project
The format for our time together on campus, as well as an overview of the subjects that we will be covering, can be found on the Week 1 Intro page.
It's going to be a busy start to the course... Looking forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday!
